How to choose a good lithium battery for forklifts

Lithium batteries have appeared in people's field of vision as a new generation of high-performance batteries for more than ten years, among them, large-capacity, high-power lithium batteries have been used in the electric forklift industry for three to four years. Because lithium batteries can be used by simple connection unlike lead-acid batteries, they need to be grouped first, equipped with intelligent management and protection controllers, and made a complete lithium battery outer box before they can be used, so they belong to a typical segmented customized market.

At present, there are not too many forklift lithium battery packs available on the market, and the industry does not have a deep understanding of this, and most users are still in the wait-and-see or trial stage. In this regard, we give you some suggestions for the application selection of lithium battery packs for forklifts:

1) Choosing a battery is like buying a car or choosing a horse, a good car and a good horse must be tested before they can be screened. Only in the heavy-duty environment (the weight of the cargo is basically equal to the nominal lifting weight of the forklift), and at least 2 shifts are used every day (16 hours of continuous cycle operation, commonly known as people do not stop), if the battery after 2 years is still very consistent (the deviation between the highest voltage value and the lowest value in each battery is within 30 millivolts), you can choose the right forklift lithium battery.

2) Forklift lithium battery: First choose the brand of lithium battery cell. At present, there are about 600 lithium battery factories in China, with different production scales, quality processes, and customer markets; Generally speaking, the higher the degree of automation, the stricter the selection channels of raw materials (electrolyte, separator, positive and negative electrode materials, etc.), the larger the output scale, and the better the quality of its lithium battery cells; Taking lithium iron phosphate cells as an example, China is currently the world's largest producer of lithium iron phosphate batteries, and the well-known brand lithium battery cells that are currently ranked high and have a large number of export applications have a production scale and production capacity dozens of times that of many small domestic lithium battery factories, and the production process is strict, basically realizing fully automated closed dust-free production, so the quality is reliable.

3) The consistency of the battery is very important. With a good cell, the consistency of its capacity, internal resistance, voltage and other parameters directly affects the life and discharge capacity of the battery. It is recommended to choose a voltage deviation between battery cells within 20mV; For frequently used vehicles, it is necessary to choose cells with a voltage deviation of less than 10mV; (This indicator can be observed on the display of the lithium battery management controller, and the parameters when the battery is standing (non-charging and non-discharging) are the standard); The higher the consistency of the battery, the more average the capacity shared by the cells, the more stable the output of each cell, the longer the battery life, and the more stable the capacity, there will be no new battery just to use for a long time, and the phenomenon of attenuation after 1-2 years.

4) Lithium battery protection and management controller - the choice of BMS is also crucial; Lithium battery belongs to the active material battery, its internal resistance is very small, is about one-tenth of the lead-acid battery, therefore, the battery overcharge, overdischarge, too high, low temperature, impulse current, short circuit and other harmful to the performance of the battery under various working conditions to real-time monitoring, timely cut off the source of danger. A good lithium battery protection and management controller is equivalent to adding intelligent protection armor to the lithium battery, and the BMS can be in microseconds when affected by external hazards
